Safety and Crossing Points:

This 5.5 km loop is designed for winter running with a combination of well lit residential crossings and a few busier roads. While many crossings are on quieter side streets and cul de sacs there are points where runners will need to cross more heavily used roads. During winter evenings reduced daylight and lower visibility make extra care essential at these locations.

It is each runner’s responsibility to ensure safe crossings at all times. Please slow down as you approach all road crossings, check carefully in both directions before stepping into the road, make eye contact with drivers whenever possible and only cross when it is clearly safe to do so. Your safety must always come first even over pace, group positioning or staying with others.

Runner Considerations:

Some sections involve running on the road. Run in single file and wear reflective or brightly colored clothing for maximum visibility. Take extra caution around corners and bends particularly on trail or unpaved sections where ice or wet leaves may make footing slippery. Be aware of walkers, dog walkers and other winter trail users and share the path courteously. Always obey road safety rules and give way where required.

For runners who prefer a slightly shorter option there is a 4.4 km variation on the same course that still includes many of the same paths and sights, giving flexibility for different paces and time constraints.

Route Completion:

The loop returns to Town Mills Car Park after a scenic mix of lit town paths and green trail sections. Perfect for mid week evening runs, this route keeps your legs moving safely and efficiently during the darker winter months.

We look forward to seeing you out there for a safe and enjoyable winter run.
